Lifestyle Fitness Basic Protein Shake

Back in the days of what everyone called “the gym”, Lifestyle Fitness, we sold protein shakes and developed our own recipe for a basic protein shake or what some call a smoothie.  Originally I felt that smoothies were shakes sans protein but now I use the terms ‘smoothie’ and ‘protein shake’ interchangeably.  Personally my favorite proteinless drink is wine, lol but sometimes after a long day in the yard gardening, a smoothie without protein seems to quench my thirst best!

Here is our secret recipe from back then…

  • 1 frozen banana, chopped into chunks
  • 1 scoop Fit Foods Whey Gourmet, Vanilla (I use their North Coast Naturals Iso Protein 100)
  • 1/2 cup frozen berries

Add all together and blend until smooth

Modifications:

  • Add 1 Tbsp chia/flax seeds
  • Omit berries and add 1 Tbsp natural peanut/other nut butter/cocoa powder
